Dyno Work

Post by Randalla »

Does anyone have experience with dyno tune shops in the valley? I'm thinking I'd like to get a baseline reading for my Z as the car is running so well with recent changes. I don't have any grand illusions about 200 or more horsepower. 160 would be nice though. Thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks for the recommendations. Any idea what I should expect to pay for 2-3 pulls? Not looking for tuning at this point, just the raw numbers.

I have used Richard at Dyno Comp in Scottsdale Airpark several times. $140 for baseline and his lead tech has a 280z and very familiar with the cars . I have the Mitsubishi Evo with Tony at UMS now and they are great so far and will be tuning next week.

Craig, If you're coming to lunch tomorrow will you bring the print out you received from Dyno Comp? Thanks

Took the Z into Dyno-Comp in north Scottsdale this morning and learned a lot in the process. The owner of the shop (Richard Garcia) ran 2 baseline pulls for me without any tuning. The first pull was 180 hp and 225 ft lb of torque. Car was running on 87 octane with 34 degrees of total timing. He suggested a number of easy things to do to gain another 8-10 hp. This was horsepower at the wheels. Horsepower at the crank would equate to roughly 207 as compared to the original factory number of 151. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. You'll notice in the printouts below I have some work to do on the air/fuel ratio from 2,000-3,000 rpm.

The cost was $140. Was thinking maybe I can negotiate a group buy if there are enough others interested in doing the same thing (Stephen, Chuck, Patrick, Craig, Russ, etc.?).
