Today's work centered on the inside of the cab. Lots and lots of cleaning. Man was this thing filthy!!! Got the floors completed and even started a small bit of re-assembly (polished sill plates, black plastic seat escutcheons, and re-painted shift plate). Even got a few layers of clear on the wooden shift knob.

Couldn't help myself this afternoon, moving to the exterior to assure myself the ugly while paint that had been applied to the tailgate actually protected good paint underneath. My first step for extremely oxidized paint is Comet on a damp cloth. It's very fine, but still cuts through oxidation and overspray. This will be followed with my random orbital and McGuire's Ultimate Compound. Pretty pleased with what I'm seeing so far.

Took a look through the cowl panel and decided to remove it and vacuum all the crap out. It was loaded with mouse poop and all manner of other stuff. It's difficult to get everything out with a big shopvac nozzle, so I'm still working on it. Also spent time this morning removing the radiator, fan and fan shroud so I could get to the water pump and timing chain cover. The pump was pretty nasty so I ordered a new one, which will be here tomorrow. All the timing chain cover bolts came out easily. Tomorrow I'll pull the cover and examine all the timing chain components, and hopefully retrieve a bolt I inadvertently dropped in.

Randy, I am thinking you can use the cowl area for a nice little planting area, you already have the fertilizer!

Not much to show today. Cleaned up work area this morning and spent an hour straightening the fins on both sides of the radiator in preparation for paint. The plastic drain plug had been broken off flush so I removed it with an Easy Out. I also removed the parking lights and grille and did a few small JB Weld repairs on it and more cleaning.
