Devils Highway Overnight Run
Devils Highway Overnight Run
I'm in the early stages of planning a two day run, with an overnight stay at the Hannagan Meadow Lodge sometime in April (when the snow is mostly gone). This run will be limited to 6-8 cars, dependent on room availability at the Lodge. Room rates are $85-$135 per night currently. US 191 (formally Hwy. 666, the "Devils Highway") between Clifton and Springerville is widely considered to be the best driver's road in the state of AZ, with over 400 switchbacks, 5,600 ft. of elevation gain and a maximum elevation of 9,100 ft. Many more details will follow, but I wanted to get this out early to gauge interest. If there's not enough DD interest, I will open it up to DZA, who have done this run before and spoken very highly of it. At this point, I'd just like to know who would be seriously interested given the cost of the two day run could be $250 or more for room, food, and fuel. Please let me know.

Re: Devils Highway Overnight Run
It is an amazing drive, It was part of the route for the Copperstate1000 a few years ago when I went. They still use part of the road for a Hillclimb race, near Clifton AZ.

Interested as long as it's not the first or last weekend. Edit, or 2nd weekend.

Great!!! Sounds like we may have enough interest already to make this actually happen. I'll begin working on info for accommodations at the Hannagan Meadow Lodge and will report back.
