Tucson 240Z For Sale

Took a road trip to Tucson to look at an original owner 1972 240Z that was listed for sale for $10,000. The car turned out to be too rusty to interest me but this will give you an idea of what's out there. I also was looking at a local 280Z for $6,700 with a nice body and original paint. It wasn't running but I probably should have bought that one. Hard to believe just a few years ago these were $1,500 cars.

That is pretty rusty! Even looks like the left rear tire has succumbed to rust.

Makes one wonder if it will pop back up on the market in a few months as a "project with fresh paint" - and a lot of body filler.....

Hopefully not - but I have seen that kind of thing way too much lol.

Really too bad because the car had a lot of other things going for it. Perfect glass, really nice bumpers and decent interior with leather seat covers.

Did you look at the underbody? If the floors and rails near the T/C rod mounts are good, it might be worth $5k, but the way it sits, if it were mine, I'd part it out and sell every nut and bolt and then sell the shell as a repairable project. The seller might get close to $10k total, but it would take a lot of time. I have cut up better cars than that back when they were cheap. I've also had tires explode many times like that.

Jeff, I forgot to mention the front rails and floors were actually rust free and uncrushed. Definitely not unrepairable, but I share your assessment.

Ditto on the $5k guesstimate, and that's generous.

That rust in the doglegs is a pain, unless you just cut out the visible bits and "skim" it with fresh stampings.

Problem is, the structure behind them is convoluted and a mess to fully repair.
