Gas Tank cleaning

Post by Randy Buckner »

Is there a favorite place to have this done? Any to avoid?

There's nobody that does this up here in Prescott. A quick look and I found Sun West Transmissions and Radiators and Commercial Radiator Service.

I did my own for several Z cars and it's a long, exhausting process. What car is this for? There are now reman tanks available for some year Z cars that probably aren't much more expensive than having a tank cleaned and relined.

It's obviously not in your backyard, but I've had "Mike Dana Radiator" in Mesa do 4-5 radiators and gas tanks over the years and they always did a good job at a reasonable price. I saw online that they had closed, but called the old number and was told they were open under new ownership. Address is: 741 S. Country Club, Mesa AZ 85210. Phone is: (480) 969-7368.

Thanks Randy and Jeff. I found that Z Car Source in Deer Valley offers them and cheaper as well and no overseas shipping.

Well, I ended up selling the 240Z! A former work friend of my son's saw the Facebook video of it getting fired up and revving and was very interested in it. He had always wanted a 240Z and this was a great opportunity. He's a nice guy and mature so he's not going to wrap it around a telephone pole. The plans are to get it running tip top, get new wheels and tires for it and get it painted. It's very bittersweet as I've been considering selling it many times the last number of years and just couldn't do it until now. Having had it for over 41 years makes it tough to let go, BUT, it is staying local and he mentioned going out for a drive when it's done. Very cool!

I included a lot of extras and even a timing light and remote starter switch, so handy for setting point gap. But one of the extras was a Crane pointless ignition and Fireball coil and new plug wires so he may not need it. A new carpet set I never put in, a padded console lid, rear louvers. He's happy. I'm relieved - nothing worse than having to make a decision.

Thanks for the help and advice in my short time here! If y'all ever come this way (Prescott) for an outing please let me know and I'll meet up with you.

Cheers, Randy

Wish you had kept it and that we'd had a chance to meet and wrench on your car together. Be sure to point the new owner to our site. Ironically, I was in Prescott yesterday with the father of the Scarab Z-car, Brian Morrow. Best of luck!

Thank you! Yeah, I am sure we would have enjoyed that. I did list this forum in my internet links I passed on.
