Replacing freeze plugs on 240Z
I found a freeze plug on my Z car (70 240Z) that needs to be replaced. I think I will replace all of them that I can get to while the engine is still in the car. Of course I will need to remove the carbs, intake and exhaust to do that side of the block. Looking to make a list of parts to order so I have everything on hand before I start. Hoping I can do it all in one day without needing more parts. Any parts I'm missing or recommendations are appreciated.
1) Set of new freeze plugs
2) Intake/exhaust gasket
3) Carb base gaskets?
4) Exhaust manifold pipe gasket?

On an L24 do you need to remove the carbs to get the intake manifold off?

Thanks Chuck, I value your opinion. Why not with engine in the car? Is it that hard to get to them? I was just thinking it would be easier than pulling the motor?

There's a plug in the back of the head. Are you certain of it's condition? I don't think it's possible to replace that one without pulling the engine. (In my mind, I'd hate to struggle with all the plugs on the side of the block with the engine in the car and later have the one I couldn't get to start leaking...)
Keep in mind that I've pulled engines UMPTEENTH times (as my mother would say). So, for me, it's become easier to have the engine out in the open for many things... (and I generally pull the engine and trans together and regret when I don't - including my latest engine only pull...) Everyone else's mileage may vary. This is a wildly personal judgement call I think, and each person is going to have different tool, skill, persistence, frustration, and physical limit thresholds. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Agree with Chuck 100%. If one FP is bad, the rest are close behind.
If you're gonna pull it, re-seal the engine, replace FPs, inspect / replace water pump, check compression, inspect / replace coolant hoses and fuel lines... May as well clean and paint the block and pan while you're at it.

Dale, I've pulled many a Z engine and owe you for all your past help. Name the day and I'll be down to help do the job. Between the two of us we'll have the engine and trans out in an hour. If you don't have a cherry picker, I have one at my storage place.

Be sure to use BRASS freeze plugs. I f it were me, I'd remove the motor so the big plug in the back of the block can
be replaced as well. While the motor is out. it'll give you a chance to check the clutch an flywheel.
