Desert Datsuns Banner
Desert Datsuns Banner
The photo in the banner above is a place holder for one that will be designed and changed out approximately every 3-6 months. We want to provide an opportunity to showcase member's Datsuns on a rotating basis. My wife Lisa has agreed to design the banners and get them posted up. In order for your Datsun to be considered, we must have a high resolution image. So please make sure if you're using your phone to take the pictures that you choose the highest resolution to both shoot the photo and send it to my email account at rlewis1957@cox.net. In a follow-up post I will be providing some helpful hints to help you take some great Datsun photos. We'll select photos for the banners randomly, but we'd really like to make sure we have some nice pictures to choose from since they will be up for a while.

Car Photography Tips
• Optimal time of day to shoot is just before sunrise or just after sunset.
• A cloudy day, when the light is flat, is also good for shooting.
• Use a tripod to achieve the sharpest photos.
• Check for reflections in the sheet metal before shooting.
• Choose a location with open space behind the camera so there’s nothing to reflect into car.
• Never shoot the shadow side of a car.
• Wear dark clothing and shoes to avoid reflections.
• Keep backgrounds complementary and simple without distracting elements.
• Experiment with unusual camera elevations, not eye or chest height, get low to the ground or up higher (use a ladder).
• Experiment with tilting camera to get more evocative shots.

Re: Desert Datsuns Banner
Also, if anyone wants some good pics of their car(s) taken, when I attend a cruise or meet I usually have quite a bit of my camera gear with me - so just ask and we will stage the car, and take some pics!

This is also a good watch for tips on phone pics. Really great YouTube channel overall.
