Portugal Z owner asking for information

Received this email from Carl in Portugal:

Hi

Hope you are well.

I currently live in Portugal and own a fantastic series 1 1970 datsun 240z.

Over the years I have been restoring this car to it’s former glory and I’m just tracing some of it’s history.

I bought it in Holland after importation from San Diego in 2017.

I have spoken to the San Diego owner who says he bought from a pregnant lady in Los Angeles who had it stored for 10yrs (maybe 2006-16) but bought it from her Uncle in Arizona.

Not much to go on I know!

The license plate was 2DLR448

The VIN: HLS3002377

Colour: Safari Gold

Do your club files have any record of the original Arizona owner? He apparently owned it from 1970 until approx 2006 so I’m guessing he was an enthusiast!

Hope you can help and attach a picture of the car in Cascais, Portugal.

Best Regards
Carl Bagshaw

Nothing in our club files but we do have some long-term members who might possibly recall the car. One of our current members has your car's twin, same year and color. He may recall the car if it was in the Phoenix area and on the road over the last 20 years. The license plate number appears to be a dealer plate number, which may be another clue.

Randy,
I also received this inquiry.
Unfortunately this vehicle doesn't ring any bells. I believe the only other 920 Safari Gold 240Z other than mine in the DZA was owned by Howard ? The historical pictures of DZA from the early 2000's are no longer posted of the DZA website so dead end there.
The license plate in the picture obviously is a European plate. The plate 2DLR448 given appears to be a California plate. I have reached out to the San Diego club but no answer yet.

It would be great if we could assist in finding more background on the vehicle.
