Route 66 JDM Classic show (2022)

Post by Ed_ »

Firstly, am I allowed to post here?

I know it's a little early but I've registered and booked a hotel for this event.

Now I have a few question you guys and gals may be able to answer, so...

How many people are expected to attend, combined DD and DZA ?
IS there a preferred hotel(s) ? Any to avoid?
Where do people hang out Friday evening, and have lunch, dinner on Saturday.
Will there be a convoy, or just a chance meeting on the drive up?
What is the best route to get to Williams?
Anything else you can tell me?

Thanks.

Oh, I will be going up Friday to get there early afternoon. Then attend the meet and greet.
Staying overnight Saturday and returning home Sunday.
If anyone wants to tag-a-long for the drive that would be good.

Ed, welcome to Desert Datsuns. I think I answered some of your questions previously via email, but let me tackle a few more. This is still too early for most of our members to have firm plans for the show (including me). Details about caravaning and such will get posted later. You can expect over 100 vintage Japanese cars and trucks based on past experience. A few years ago this show was opened up to include all Japanese brands rather than just Datsun/Nissan. There is no preferred motel/hotel, however there are at least 15 choices in town to choose from. You'll want to attend the meet and greet dinner Friday evening where you can pick up your credentials, goodie bag, T-shirt, etc. Lunch and dinner on Saturday is strictly on your own, though again, there are many places in town within walking distance of the show. I hope this helps, Ed. The show organizers are members on this site so you can expect updates on the show as we get closer.

Thanks for the reply and answers. ... and the welcome.

I have registered ($45), and have a hotel booked. No payment until check-in, cancel anytime up to 24 hours of date with no penalty.

Thing is, I'm on an extremely low fixed income so I have to budget way in advance. I did notice some hotels seem to have very few rooms available for the dates in question but that could just be how it is normally. Anyway, entry fee, gas, and hotel budgeted for.

Route up there and back planned.

Now just have to do a few things to the Z and all is good.

Hope to see some of you there, and before.

Which hotel is across the street from DQ with all the covered parking?

Granted, I have not been in a few years so things may have changed.

Not sure which one you mean. There are 3 right across the street from Dairy Queen.

Just did a quick search... the 3 closest to DQ...

Gateway Hotel, SOLD OUT Sep 30 to Oct 2 .... but does have some covered parking.... if they had a vacancy. (Check OFTEN, rooms come and go)
Budget Host has vacancies
Highlander (Which has 2 Datsun/Nissans on the Expedia website) has vacancies.

Thanks, I think Gateway is the one I was thinking of although it was something else at the time.

There should be no problems with trailers at any hotel/motel. However, parking in a SAFE spot (Lots of light, in view from your room) might be an issue.

Google maps is great. Zoom in tight and go to satellite view for a good look from above, and there is street view if you want to virtually take a walk around.
