Glass Setting Tape

Have any of you used glass setting tape to secure side window glass in the channels? The glass in my Roadster is rattling and seems pretty loose. I was told I need glass setting tape to line the channel before inserting the glass. Supposedly it takes up the extra space and more or less locks the glass in place. Looks like the tape comes in different thicknesses 1/32" to 1/16" so I guess I'll need to take things apart and mic the dimensions so I get the right thickness.

Sounds interesting. My Z drivers window also rattles.

Isn't that channel supposed to have the U-shaped felt /rubber liner?
Looks like this:

This is the discussion on the 311 site:

Seemed to me the bottom of the glass needs to be secured so you can't just lift the glass out of the channel, as mine is prone to currently. I thought from the comments, that the glass setting tape would both keep the glass from rattling and secure it in place. This is on my to do list in the next month before the Solvang show in CA.

I gave up on the glass setting tape, opting to use silicone glue in the track instead, to secure the glass and eliminate the rattling. Successful on both counts. A very significant improvement.
