Fuel Pressure Gauge

I have an aluminum fuel rail that Lucas built for my 240Z, with a screw in fuel pressure gauge, that reads 0-15 lbs. For quite a while it read accurately, usually 3-4 lbs. Later, I began noticing the needle fluttering all over the place when the car was running. Saturday, at a car show, one of our newer members, Rob1972 (Robin), noticed with the engine off, the needle was stuck at about 3 lbs. After a bit of research I learned that a fluid filled gauge (which mine wasn't) had a number of advantages over what I had. Primarily, the fluid (usually glycerin) damps out vibration, making the reading more accurate, while adding to the life of the gauge. I have a new one on the way (around $25). The old one is below.

That's good. I bet the fluid filled gauge will be much better.

The new gauge showed up, and unfortunately it did not work so back it goes. I ordered two others, which will be here tomorrow.

The 2 gauges arrived this afternoon, one fluid filled, and one not. Tried them both out and they both work. The fluid filled one registers almost steady at 3 1/2 lbs., fluctuating 1/2 lb. at most. The other one bounces all over the place, fluctuating as much as 2 lbs., due to engine vibration. In my opinion, the fluid filled one is definitely worth the difference in price ($8.00 vs. $17.00). Both were bought off Amazon. Each gauge registers from 0-15 lbs. The gauge on the right is the fluid filled one.
