New stable addition

Post by SCARZME »

Finally bit the bullet and bought an RV a few weeks ago. Went on our first trip to Williams to the Rte 66 Classic Car Cruise and Car Show with some of our neighbors and family that drove an RV over from LA. Fun weekend, about 300 cool cars including a 240 and 280Z. We didn't tow anything since it was our first outing. One thing at a time!

To make room for the RV my neighbor brought his excavator and bobcat over to move TONS of dirt and rock from in front of the garage to down in front of the house. Had to rent a bobcat mounted rock hammer for a day too. We now have room for about 3 RVs!

Topped off both areas with 42 tons of AB material well compacted with a vibraplate.

Congrats Bob!! That's awesome! I remember we talked a little about motorhomes when we were at Barrett-Jackson in January.

Looks like that is a Sunstar model 27N?? If so, we looked at that model too. They are really nice! :)

We had some friends at the car show in Williams with their motorhome too. We were unable to make it.

I hope you have a lot of good times and enjoyment with your new home on wheels!

We recently bought a motorhome as well. We ended up going with a smaller Class C.

Had it out a few times now and getting used to things. So far so good.

Maybe we'll see you on the road sometime.

Yep, it's a 27N, a 2015 model with 18k on the clock. The trip went well, had a small water leak, only a loose clamp. Other than that everything worked fine.
Dale, congrats on your purchase too! Is it a new or used RV? Any mods yet? Wish we had a parking spot like yours!
Randy, here's some pics of the inside.

It's got 3 slides and gobs of storage which is what sold Val on this model. I've got to install a trailer brake controller and get a drop hitch so we can haul a car. It's prewired so should be simple.
Heading to CO next month for a week with our neighbors. The dogs travel well, bought a pet ramp at a local thrift shop for $20. I just fabricated a "pet minder" and attached it to the bottom of the "rocker panel" if you can call it that on an RV.

Now I just gotta dig a short trench from the house breaker panel to near the parking spot and pull a 30 amp service so we can run the AC while it's parked. It will be a 4th bedroom when we have company.

Very, very nice! Truly a home away from home. Love the pet minder.

Bob, that's really nice looking on the inside. I thought it was a 27N. :D We liked that model, I think You're going to love it.

I thought I put a couple pics of ours on this thread? Must have deleted them when I edited my post...

Anyway, we bought a new one in February, just before all this Covid hit. Its a Winnebago on the Mercedes Chassis.
Its not as big as your class A, but the size will work for us. It has a full wall slide on one side and some features we really liked.
Mods.... I have already done quite a few mods, fixed some things I didn't like and adding some things. Just installed a nicer battery monitor today.

Anyway, here are a couple pictures. I don't have a good interior shot of ours, so I included one from the brochure.

Bob,
I ended up finding a deal on a lightly use Kia Soul that was already all set up for flat towing. It ended up being such a deal I couldn't pass it up.

But I will want to be able to tow my car hauler, so I will need a brake controller for that.

Take a look at this one and let me know what you think for a trailer.
Its all built into the 7 pin plug on the back and wireless to an smart phone or pad.
No wiring to install and you can easily move it from one vehicle to the next.
I kind of like it..

Dale, that looks great!
I haven’t seen that wireless controller before, neat idea! Our rig is prewired so I got a conventional Tekonsha unit, just have to mount it and plug it in (in theory.) Let me know how yours works out.
