Whew.... I just renewed our domain for another year. Yup, on May 22 we have been on the new site for a year.

Glad you are all here, and hopefully we can keep 'em running for another one.

Guy,

Wow, time really fly's. We all appreciate everything you have done for our little DD site. Good job.

Time for everyone to hit the "Donate" button on the home page. This isn't run for free.

Thank you again.
Dale

I was thinking it would be nice to gather at the Z cafe again like we did in May of last year, then I remembered that dang virus thing. Maybe it will be okay by then? I know that I have gotten pretty much nothing done on my car this year, but I bet many of you have accomplished a lot.

I was just talking to Dan at Z Cafe about doing another breakfast, right before this lock down happened. So, once we are able to go outside and play again, I will set something up there again. If its not too hot yet. I miss the car show scene this spring.

Guy, Where do we stand in terms of members covering our costs of maintaining this site? We obviously don't want you to be out of pocket. I've been disappointed with the level of participation both in terms of posts and donations these days. It may be time to kill the site. Thoughts???

Hopefully as Covid lifts we can do more get togethers and trips, maybe that will help to stir interests.

Weird, I just posted, but didn't show up for some reason.

As far as finances, I just renewed the domain and site for another year and donations covered all but a couple dollars. No problem there.

Participation is a different thing, and it is a problem for most automotive clubs these days. Right at the end of last year Desert Z members received a letter asking if it was time to end the Desert Z club, which is probably a little bit larger group than this one. They found a couple new guys to pick up the reins, and are hanging in there for now. The Datsun clubs in Oregon and Washington state are having issues, with the only active Northwest forum left being the 510 Realm. The Canby crowd has cancelled their annual gathering which was scheduled for this coming weekend (park closed for covid). Ratsun sees a bit of activity from the California groups like Dats Locos.

Lets hang in there for another year and see how it goes. I enjoy running the site, I have got a pretty good handle on the spammers and bots now, and the restaurants are starting to open back up. Heck I may even get some progress done on my 510 sometime. :-)

Sounds good Guy. Just want to make sure you don't get stuck with any bills. You have done more than enough to enhance the site and keep it going. I have continued to spread the word as I run across previously unknown Datsun people (2 in the last week) that were not aware of DD. Would be a lot more interesting to come here if there was more regular content. Thanks to Ryan for letting us walk with him through his build!

Personally, I would hate to just "kill the site" and or our little group. If we can't continue to get enough donations to cover the cost, I'll cover them. Guy, just let me know. As far as participation, it has certainly been down. I know this Covid thing didn't help especially happening during peak time for Datsun or other collector cars that are usually without AC. I met a guy a couple days ago that had Datsun interests. I always give a couple cards and tried to encourage people to join. Maybe he will. As Guy said, I think many car clubs are struggling right now.
