Good warning on the wire Paul. Not sure when I'll next need to order some, if ever, but good thing to file away. FYI, the harness in my Roadster is a new one and the issues are small, but important ones. Need to get the blinkers working, the fuel and the temperature gauges, and fix a glitch in my bright headlight switch (it had been working). If I remember right, the temp and fuel gauges are stepped down from 12 volts to 6 on a Roadster, and the regulator may be the issue.

I shouldn't have too much difficulty sorting all that out.

And,

Totally enjoying reading your posts, and learning some things in the process. So impressed by how thorough and well thought out everything is that you do. I particularly like the way you're labeling grouped wires. Very nice touch! The voltage regulator you pictured, looks just like the one that was in my Roadster, though it was judged DOA.

If the voltage regulator is indeed dead - I can make a solid state replacement. They are surprisingly easy to make using only a resistor, transistor, and capacitor and a small heat sink. I may even have one or two that I built laying around from when I had a rash of Mopars with issues.

This thread makes me giddy. :)

It's always nerve-wracking when someone with Paul's level of expertise sees "behind the scenes" and evaluates your car... but considering this was a low-budget rolling [partial] resto, I'm pleased as can be and excited to have our gal back all functional and trouble-free.

Sure hope it continues going well, as there's a couple progressively more challenging tasks looming in the shop that we might need to discuss! ;)

In all seriousness, THANK YOU Paul for taking on this task. Alice is in good and capable hands. You are appreciated more than you know.

There is no evaluation, every car is different and when you get to the age of some cars - they have had many people, many years, and many trips on them. Trust me, Alice isn't looking her age! She is a character..... All is going well - slight delay due to the shortages that seem to be affecting everything - but the restock I ordered (wire) arrived and now it is back to making progress.

Speaking of progress -

More phenomenal work! WOW.

As an aside, I love everything Knipex makes - I have 3 or 4 of their tools, and I have the same hydraulic crimper kit as yours.

Also (off-topic), if you run across any specialty tools you may need, I've been picking up things for the Bella 2.0 build (like the AC line crimper). You're always welcome to borrow anything in the shop. :)

Second to last update!

Soon as this is done, my DD camry is in for an afternoon - an injector has died. How annoying too, only has 180k miles on it ;)
