Help With my 210!!

Post by DannyBoy »

I've been driving my 79' 210 around for a few months now and it has come time toy replace the sending unit in the fuel tank..... I can't seem to find this part anywhere. If anyone has any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure it's not repairable? If you have it out of the fuel tank check the function with a multi-meter as you swing the float arm back and forth. If the numbers change as you swing the arm across its arc it's probably still good. I brought one for my Roadster back to life, where the finely wrapped wire was totally rusted. I soaked it in Evaporust for a day and it came back to life. If your's is not salvageable I would post on Ratsun that you are looking for one. You might also check to see if there's another Datsun model that would work. You can always bend the arm a little to make it read properly.

I took it to a classic car mechanic and he was saying that the pickup tube that goes to the bottom of the tank might be cracked or rusted through somewhere above the bottom and that would be causing my limited tank usage. Thank you so much for your reply. I took it out and it's the same part as the sender for a 70'-73' 240Z so worst case I can buy another one. That's less critical than my range limitation. Thank you for the recommendation; I didn't know about Ratsun!
