The Adventure Begins- My 620 build thread
Re: The Adventure Begins- My 620 build thread
Finished up the passenger side mirror today, and bench bled and installed a new brake master cylinder. Spent the other half of the day finishing up customer's 67 Roadster and ordering new tires, that I expect in tomorrow. After that, customer will be picking his car up and I'll have one bay in my garage back for a 240Z I've designed a completely new fuel system for.

Thanks Dale. It's been a lot of fun, but I must admit I'm getting a little weary of working on it everyday in the heat. Today I took "Buckwheat" on a short maiden voyage down my street. First time since June 1 that it actually drove. Shifted through the gears fine, after double clutching the first couple times. I did discover a brake fluid leak at the master cylinder that I need to resolve before taking it out on a public road. Unless I run into something unforeseen, I think at this point it should be roadworthy to head to Williams at the end of the month. Still need to get a front end alignment, head to the exhaust shop to have the tailpipe and resonator welded on, and make some additional headway on cosmetics..

I need to get your wheel refinishing tips, as I have a steel wheel for a full size spare for the Z.

Installed lowering blocks in the rear this morning to improve the stance. Took some rough measurements and decided on a 3" drop. After getting the kit I was starting to have second thoughts that maybe a 2" drop would be enough. I was looking for a very slight rake, and after dropping the truck back on the ground, I have to say the 3" drop looks perfect to my eye. Took me about 3-1/2 hours to finish everything up, having run into a few snags along the way. Took the hood off in preparation for a little PDR work.

Discovered two brake fluid leaks after bleeding the system, one at the master cylinder and one at the rear brake cylinder. Bought a new flaring tool and tried it out today for the first time. Double flares are always a crap shoot for me, with maybe a 50% good rate. This new tool is awesome, and so easy to use, producing great results. Replaced both rear brake cylinders today, the line connecting right and left rear cylinders and put a new flare on the end of the line that connects to the master cylinder. Tomorrow I'll fill and bleed the system, and hopefully won't have any more leaks.

Almost done building new door panels and recovering the panel behind the seat. Should have all the interior trim except carpet back in truck later tomorrow. Also started wire wheeling the bed to prepared it for spray in bed liner. Prep is going to take a full day to get it ready to spray.
