Hi guys, I have a 5-speed of unknown condition- any recommendations for Datsun transmission rebuilders in the area?
Also any suggestions on zinc platers who can replate the hardware for 240Z SU carbs and misc engine-compartment hardware? Anyone have good results with "Sav-On" in Phoenix?
Long story of scope creep...what started as a weekend carb rebuild on my 240Z has turned into rebuilding the head, and while I was in there pulling said head, my timing chain wedge slipped and released the tensioner, so now looks like I'll be pulling the front cover, so while I'm at it maybe I'll just pull the motor to paint it and the grungy orange and black engine bay, which means I'll probably pull the transmission, which means I should swap my 5-speed. It will also be a good opportunity to pull off any old engine bay hardware and have it replated to factory-style finish. Gee, and while the motor is out, even though it ran fine, perhaps I should have it freshened with new bearings and rings?
It never ends!
thanks!
Austin

Re: Transmission rebuilders and Zinc plating?
I have been using Sav-On for over a decade. GREAT crew. THe owner is awesome, and Cassandra (in the office) is a sweetheart. Use them without hesitation.
Turnaround time is about 8 business days for a 5-g bucket of parts.
