Introductions

Post by Turboman280 »

Thought I would start a topic for members to introduce themselves.

Most of you know me as 2urboZ or just Carl. The 2turboZ handle was left over from when I had a Z32 Twin Turbo. I thought I would take the opportunity to change to something more appropriate since we were transitioning.

Hey guys! Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Oliver! Lived in AZ pretty much all my life (Sierra Vista, Tucson and now Gilbert as of 2 years ago.) I'm near Power and Warner for those that might be on that side of town. I own a 78 280z that I'm always wrenching on trying to improve with the goal of being a track day car/autocross. Anyway, glad to be here!

Hi guys, my name is Rob and I have couple of 4 door 510s. I’m doing a ground up build for my wife now. The motor, a VG33, and trani, 4 speed auto, have been fitted and mounts made. They are out now. I have stripped the engine compartment and painted it. Stripped the under side and sprayed it with lizard skin. The front suspension is 280zx with coil overs and the rear has 280zx rotors and coil overs also. I changed the rear differential to a R180. I have rebuilt and powder coated it all as I’ve been going along. I am ready to pull the front and back windows now so I can really get into the body work. I’ve fitted steel fender flares and it will have a steel chin spoiler. I picked up a set of BMW leather adjustable seats for her.
Also have a the 510 that I drive around for fun. It also has 280zx front and Maxima rear disc. Part have been powder coated on it as well. The interior of this one is from a 2003 Nisan Exterra. Body is kinda rough but pretty solid. I’ve picked up a second zvG33 and 5 speed for it.
I live in Prescott Valley and have only been here for a few years.
I’d love to meet up with others in the area.

Hey guys! I’m moving to the Phoenix area soon and wanted to introduce myself! It’s been a while since I’ve used an actual forum, so bare with me haha

I’m moving from Mississippi in a couple of months, but spent the majority of my life in East TN. I spent most of my days on US129 Tail of the Dragon in Miatas as well as doing some autocross events and RallyCross in a WRX. I’ve now owned a few S30Zs and am currently working on my keeper project, a 1976 280Z.

So far, I’ve done a top end refresh, aftermarket intake, 3-2 header to MSA twice pipes out the back, and some Fairlady inspired exterior styling cues (slim bumper, fender mirrors, etc). I’m in the process of installing FEAL 441+ coilovers with Swift springs with rates of 5k/4k front/rear and replacing all of the bushings with poly. Later plans are replacing all suspension components with Apex Engineered components, wide 15 inch wheels with sticky tires, flares, building an L28ET on a stand to swap in, and finally repaint.

I’m looking forward to seeing the roads and scenery that AZ has to offer! I was also interested in tracking at Arizona Motorsports Park if anyone has any info or experience with that. Can’t wait to meet everyone!

Welcome YōkaiZ!, Glad you joined up. We have a great group of Datsun people here. It slows down a bit during the summer, due to the heat in AZ. Hope to see you at some of our events in the future.

Hello all sorry so long of a post, I am Ryan I live in Gilbert I got my car in January of 2017. I am 38 and married with 2 kids. I work as a “virtualization engineer” aka computer guy. I have always loved the look of Datsuns but something was always in the way of me buying one and frankly was also kinda scared that I didnt have the skills fix one or to keep one running. Before I acquired this car I literally had a small set of tools most of them standard not metric and of questionable quality. The only previous work I had ever done is changed the oil in a car. Well I jumped in the deep end big time. When I bought the car it was not running, had rust all over in all the usual places, no interior, a few boxes of parts that I later found out were almost useless. A few years later now and the car is coming along as most of you know. It runs and drives, rust is almost all gone, has an interior. If I had to do it again I would just maybe find one with a bit less rust. It’s no show car and never will be but I am 100% proud of what I have done and that’s all that matters to me.

New Fuel pump :New front rotors/pads/wheel bearings
MSA 3-2 header and exhaust system: AEM air fuel gauge: BRE style rear wing: xenon 3125 front air dam: interior tan to black conversion: new headliner: I dunno petty much every bolt has been touched at this point
