Post by Cincy510 »

Hello fellow Datsun owners..I have a question and looking for some.insite and history on 510 that was purchased from AZ in mid 2018 ..the previous owner I would belive was a active member of desert datsuns.com Ryan Newman..I purchased both his cars ..but more so looking for history and build sheet specs on the VG34 wide body 510..I know there was a write up on the build .but assuming since the site was taken down all that info was lost..if any of u guys could help that would be teriffi9
Thanks in advance

Very sadly, Ryan passed away. Unless someone on this forum has something Ryan may have given them, I fear that information has been lost to history.

For what its worth, you can still read Ryan's posts on Ratsun and the 510 Realm under the name Yellowdatsun. He never did a real build diary like some have except for the threads he did here on Desert Datsuns.

From memory, I am pretty sure that the box flair car had shortened VG-30 200sx struts and I believe he used Z31 hubs to correct the wheel offset. I am not sure of the brakes it has on it, but if you plan on upgrading to Wilwood or newer Nissan brakes, you will likely need to replace the struts with either 280zx or original 510 struts to match up with any of the after market kit for brakes. There are several good options there.

Look forward to seeing how you go about the front suspension and brake upgrades.

The V6 200sx struts are the best struts to have if doing newer modern brake upgrades. You can bolt Z32 or z33 calipers directly to them. You can use the m30 hubs if you want 4 lug or 1987-1989 z31 hubs if you want 5 lug.

Cindy, I rebuilt the motor a long while back. Contact me if you have questions. Richard PM is good for me.
