I've been watching and waiting for this car to come up on BAT (Bring A Trailer) auction site.

Its now live and already at $71k with 8 days left in the auction.

Probably the nicest early 240Z I've ever seen.

Think it will set a new BAT record? (current record is the Franklin Mint car at $124,240)

Yes, this one will be interesting to watch Dale. Don't think the negative Nellie's will help push the final price above the FM car. Any guesses? I'm going to say $110,000.

Yes, very interesting. Many of the comments are unnecessary, but I don't think it takes away from the car. I believe it is the real deal survivor.
I have a feeling it will go past the FM car. I'm going to guess $130k, but that just a wild guess. LOL.

Looks like you may be right Dale. I see the car is now over $100,000 with 3 days left.

The comments make me glad I am not attempting a concourse restoration.

Stay tuned for a lot more low mileage Series I Z-cars coming out of the woodwork after that craziness! Two guys with bigger egos than sense I think. So, do you really think a Z is worth 3X as much as a excellent Series I Jaguar XKE roadster???

Randy, not many cars in this condition. If the Jag was a low mile unrestored car in excellent condition how much would that go for? Well north of a million I would guess.

The bad news for the buyers of such cars is that it needs to stay that way to hold the value. You can't drive and enjoy them.

I agree, there are not to many cars around, in this condition with such low miles. It's really a perfect survivor. I don't think a restored car would come close to this price, in fact nice ones bring about 1/10th. Now how many more super clean low mileage 240's are out there? We'll see.

I think there were about 4-5 really serious bidders on this auction, of course only 2 at the end taking it to the limit. Someone wanted a very pristine original for their collection. I hope it stays in the USA. It was really fun to watch the auction.

I'm not so sure about that guys. Check our the Z Car Mecca link below. Jim Fredrick was a customer of mine and I got to know him by phone a few years ago. He lives in FL and calls his place "Z-car Mecca." When the video was filmed it looks like he had 15-16 pretty nice cars including #16. Admittedly they're not all survivors, but definitely some very nice ones. Heaven only knows how many he might have now. Quite the retirement annuity.

Regarding the price of a comparable Series I XKE Roadster, BAT sold this very nice low mile car sold in 2019 for $135K
