Those look good Randy. I'm sure the whole car is a pretty dramatic change after you get done with it...

I've finally just about got all the caked on grease off the transmission and oil pan (huge mess). I'm also pulling the taillights to replace the chrome bars and add the new rubber gaskets that came with the car. Also took the driver's side door panel off to do a little repair on the vinyl, and pulled the center console to replace the shift boot, and tighten up the slop in the shift lever.

Finished up the rear end of the Z today. Took the taillights out and apart so I could replace the chrome trim and the rubber gaskets to help seal out any fumes. In the process I also cleaned up the hatch latch mechanism and cleaned all the bulb sockets of corrosion. Also had to replace two bulbs that were DOA. The spare tire well is spotless, not a bit of rust and the wooden cover is also intact. Also bought and installed a chrome exhaust outlet. All little things, but happy with progress so far.

Ryan, the car was in ID for a while so there is surface rust underneath, and I have a couple of areas that need to have a patch tacked in where there's a little rust through near the front stabilizer bar mount. That seems to be it.

I have a new set of scuff plates that you are welcome to try, Randy. They didn’t fit right on my 280Z, so I’m guessing they will work fine on a 240Z.

I also have that little plastic contact mount for your turn indicator switch. Give me a shout ...

Hi Peter, sorry for not having gotten back to you sooner. I think I'm good with the scuff plates I have, but I would appreciate the contact you mentioned for my extra turn switch. Any update on your engine or transmission?

I had the silver 240 idling in the garage the other day when it just up and died. I was pretty sure it had run out of gas, but after putting in a few gallons, still no go. It would fire off on ether but after checking, the float bowls were dry. One of three possibilities, fuel pump, plugged filter or plugged pickup tube in the tank. Going to start with swapping out the fuel pump because I have several extras. easy enough to diagnose fortunately.
